The Community Foundation for Nantucket proudly hosted its annual Nantucket Fund Grant Awards Celebration last night, commemorating both its record-breaking commitment to $1 million in grants to local nonprofits and the Foundation’s 20th anniversary.
Over the past two decades, the Community Foundation has distributed more than $46 million in grants from all of its funds, with over 90% of those directly supporting Nantucket nonprofits. The Nantucket Fund alone has distributed $13 million since its inception, and this year’s Nantucket Fund awards supported 38 nonprofits providing critical services on Nantucket. Held at the Sconset Casino, this milestone event celebrated the collective power of 20 years of informed philanthropy and community action. Attendees included nonprofit leaders, donors, and year-round island residents all united by a shared commitment to making Nantucket a vibrant and resilient place for all.
“This year’s Nantucket Fund grants are a testament to the generosity of our donors and the resilience of our nonprofit partners who show up every day to support the Nantucket community,” said Sunny Daily, Executive Director of the Community Foundation.
The Nantucket Fund is the Foundation’s unrestricted grantmaking resource which addresses the island’s most pressing needs from food security and childcare to mental health and attainable housing. Over the past two decades, The Nantucket Fund has responded to the changing patterns of these critical needs, including distributing more than $3 million in aid during the pandemic, even while the fund continues to grow so it can serve as a permanent endowment that informs and strengthens the island community for future generations
“As we reflect on the Community Foundation’s 20 years of work on the island, we look ahead with gratitude and determination,” added Daily. “Together, we are not only meeting the moment, but also building a stronger, more connected Nantucket now and for the future.”
