Marine Mammal Alliance Nantucket

Marine Mammal Alliance Nantucket is an all volunteer non profit given authority by NOAA Fisheries to monitor, protect and assist marine mammals around Nantucket, Muskeget and Tuckernuck islands. Our team is here to advise and educate the public on what is normal behavior for marine mammals and what needs our help. We respond and disentangle pinnipeds from fishing gear, escort stranded cetaceans to safer waters and deliver injured or ill animals to rehab when necessary. We also perform necropsies, supply essential data to universities and NOAA as well as monitor and report whale activity. Through outreach, education, collaboration and advocacy, we strive to make a difference.

To accomplish this mission, the NAC raises funds to produce events in all disciplines, makes grants to other arts organizations, produces the annual Nantucket Arts Festival, and supports students in the arts through scholarships.

The Town of Nantucket’s Council on Aging acts on behalf of elderly residents on Nantucket, 60 years and over.  The Council’s focus is to provide programs, activities, information and volunteer opportunities that enhance the quality of life for our senior citizens.

Nantucket Dance Theater

Nantucket Dance Theater is the island’s non-profit dance company that offers education and performance opportunities to students of all ages and aspirations and enriches the community through dance. We focus on developing students to be lifelong learners, disciplined practitioners, and expressive artists. Not only do we strive to support our students but we also aim to provide a space for choreographers, teaching artists, and professionals to develop work, share experience and be compensated for their talents and time.

Nantucket Hunting Association

The Nantucket Hunting Association is a dues and donation-funded, 501c3 nonprofit corporation with a mission to preserve the traditions of ethical hunting and to maintain the balance of Nantucket’s wildlife resources. Founded in 1997, the association has members residing in 7 states. Association programs include Hunter Safety Education Courses given on Nantucket.

Nantucket Ice is a year- round non-profit ice skating facility. Programs offered include Public Skating, Learn to Skate Classes, After School Skating, Youth Hockey, Figure Skating, Synchronized Skating, Summer Clinics, School and Other Group Use, Family Skating Activities, Adult Hockey Leagues, and Special Events. Hockey and figure skate rentals are available. There is a restaurant and pro shop on the premises.

The Sankaty Head Foundation’s mission is to support the Sankary Heady Caddy Camp.  The Camp is home each summer to 60 caddies and staff members.  Campers live in a structured, disciplined camp environment and spend part of each day caddying for members of the Sankaty Head Golf Club.

Swim Across America – Nantucket

Swim Across America began as a relay swim from Nantucket to Hyannis in the 1980s and has evolved to 17 open water swims and dozens of pool swims around the country to raise money and awareness for cancer research, prevention and treatment.   All of the net proceeds from the Nantucket Swim support the Nantucket Cottage Hospital (NCH) Oncology Program and Palliative & Support Care of Nantucket (PASCON).
