Celebrating the 2019 Nantucket Fund Recipients

On Tuesday, July 9th the Community Foundation hosted our annual Nantucket Fund Grants Recipient Reception where we awarded $174,000 to 20 nonprofit recipients whose missions and programs most closely align with the community’s greatest needs.

The Nantucket Fund awards grants based on priorities determined through convening the Island’s leaders. Our Advisory Committee meets throughout the year to identify and prioritize the Island’s most critical needs. This practice allows the us to be strategic in our grant making process around priorities set by community leaders. This year’s grants reflected our community’s commitment to affordable housing initiatives, behavioral health, child enrichment, education, health, nutrition, diversity, and elder well-being.

In her welcome to the audience, Margaretta Andrews, Executive Director of the Community Foundation, expressed “We are honored to have you here for our 13th Nantucket Fund awards cycle, to hear stories of real people whose lives have been changed for the better as we continue to make a difference on Nantucket.”

Special thanks to our event sponsors; BNY Mellon Wealth Management, White Elephant, Nantucket Pharmacy, Permits Plus / MWP Designs, Brian Sullivan of Fisher Real Estate and an anonymous Nantucket Native.

In conclusion, CFN President, Geoff Verney, said “It is our honor to support the important work being done every day by these organizations, largely on behalf of our year-round Islanders. We thank our Nantucket Fund donors, many of whom are here today. They make our grants possible.”
