Marine Mammal Alliance Nantucket is an all volunteer non profit given authority by NOAA Fisheries to monitor, protect and assist marine mammals around Nantucket, Muskeget and Tuckernuck islands. Our team is here to advise and educate the public on what is normal behavior for marine mammals and what needs our help. We respond and disentangle pinnipeds from fishing gear, escort stranded cetaceans to safer waters and deliver injured or ill animals to rehab when necessary. We also perform necropsies, supply essential data to universities and NOAA as well as monitor and report whale activity. Through outreach, education, collaboration and advocacy, we strive to make a difference.

Swim Across America began as a relay swim from Nantucket to Hyannis in the 1980s and has evolved to 17 open water swims and dozens of pool swims around the country to raise money and awareness for cancer research, prevention and treatment.   All of the net proceeds from the Nantucket Swim support the Nantucket Cottage Hospital (NCH) Oncology Program and Palliative & Support Care of Nantucket (PASCON).
