Friday, December 4, 2015, marked the Community Foundation for Nantucket’s 6th annual Grant Recipient’s Breakfast.
The Community Foundation has convened a Community Roundtable for the past two years, including thought leaders from the Island, to help us assess current and future needs on Nantucket in anticipation of CFN’s annual Community Grants cycle through the Nantucket Fund™. The Grants Breakfast was proud to honor 24 nonprofits receiving awards which total $138,720. Funding for our grants comes from a variety of sources; The ‘Sconset Chapel, the Nantucket License Plate Fund, The First Congregational Church, our yearly raffle as well as a dozen very generous multi-year donors to the Nantucket Fund™.
Executive Director Margaretta Andrews and Board President Victoria McManus welcomed over 100 people at the Nantucket Hotel to celebrate one of our favorite days of the year – The Giving of Grants! Here is a little taste of where our grant dollars went this year:
We heard from each of the recipients as they emotionally and gratefully spoke a bit about how these grant dollars would help their programs this year.
