The Community Foundation for Nantucket – Commemorating Juneteeth

The Community Foundation for Nantucket stands in solidarity with the fight against systemic racism. On Juneteeth, a national holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States, we feel it is as important as ever to acknowledge that we still live in a country which tolerates and perpetuates racial discrimination. We recognize the important role Nantucket played in black history and support the continuation of the island’s rich tradition of inclusiveness.

We at the Community Foundation condemn any and all acts of racism and are committed to creating a better future for all. Through our established role as a convener we plan to participate in and contribute to the discussions and action plans to identify and help end racism and bias.  We commit to doing this work every day in collaboration with others.
