Now less than three weeks away, the inaugural 2014 Nantucket Music Festival, which will benefit the Nantucket Community Music Center, is thrilled to announce Boston legends Dispatch as a new, headlining addition to the festival’s artist lineup for the celebration set to take place at Tom Nevers Field on August 2-3. The Community Foundation for Nantucket is so thrilled to be helping to make this project a reality! Indie-roots favorites worldwide, Dispatch will join the roster of 20 bands set to fill the weekend with music on two separate stages, including Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Guster, Steel Pulse, Donovan Frankenreiter, Lukas Nelson & P.O.T.R., Entrain, Ayla Brown, Crash, Freddy Clarke, Ben Taylor and a host of local and regional talent.
Nantucket Music Festival launched in 2014 for the enjoyment of popular music by visitors and residents alike on Nantucket Island, the well-known resort community located 25 miles at sea off the coast of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. The festival features popular bands and musicians in many musical styles including folk, rock, country, blues, jazz, soft reggae, singer-songwriter and others. Net proceeds from the 2014 Nantucket Music Festival will benefit the Nantucket Community Music Center through the non-profit Celebrate Music Foundation, Inc. Founders of the festival are longtime Nantucket resident and business owner Cheryl Emery and longtime seasonal resident Cynthia Dareshori. Founding board members of Nantucket Music Festival include Senator Bill Frist, M.D.; Dr. Bob Arnot; Adam Dread, Esq.; Gene Mahon, Barbara Elder, Mark Famiglio and Tom Dickson.
