Kathleen Duncombe’s involvement in the arts was extensive and lifelong as was her involvement in the lives of young people on the island. She started Shredder Studio where she taught classes for years and owned the Made on Nantucket gallery. This scholarship is something that she wanted to do to help Nantucket students who want to pursue a degree in fine arts. Students eligible for assistance shall be any past or present Nantucket High School graduate who is pursuing a degree (including, but not limited to, a BA, BFA, MA, MFA, and/or PhD) in fine arts including, but not limited to, visual arts, painting (such as watercolors, oils, acrylics, and pastels), sculpture, ceramics, drawing, film making, photography, fabric arts, graphic design, architecture, and/or art therapy.
