The Nantucket Fund for Emergency Relief Meets ReMain Nantucket Matching Challenge & Awards first Emergency Relief Grants.
The Community Foundation is pleased to announce that through an outpouring of generous donations we have met ReMain Nantucket’s matching gift challenge. In three weeks, the Foundation raised the $250,000 to be matched by ReMain Nantucket, and we continue to look for support.
“We are so grateful to ReMain Nantucket for signing on to be our first major donor to the Nantucket Fund for Emergency Relief. Without their initial support and confidence in us the fund would not have grown so quickly.” Margaretta Andrews, Executive Director.
Due to ReMain’s steadfast support and our multiple private donors, we are on track to raise more than $1 million for this emergency support. As of today, we have awarded over $250,000 in Emergency Grants to nonprofits who are providing vital human services or organizations which needed assistance so they can remain operational during and after this pandemic. We believe that in the coming weeks we will receive grant requests that will exceed the $1 million we have raised.
The following organizations received grants:
- A Baby Center at Nantucket Family Resource Center
- A Safe Place
- Fairwinds, Nantucket’s Counseling Center
- First Congregational Church – Saltmarsh Senior Citizen Food Delivery Program
- Health Imperatives
- Nantucket Cottage Hospital Thrift Shop
- Nantucket Boys & Girls Club
- Nantucket Food, Fuel, and Rental Assistance
- Rising Tide Preschool
- Small Friends
“The grants awarded through the Nantucket Fund for Emergency Relief illustrate the Foundation’s dedication to supporting our vital human service organizations and year-round community. We will continue to work with our Island’s nonprofits to ensure we are able to sustain vital human services throughout our island community.” Geoff Verney, CFN Board President.
In the upcoming weeks, Nantucket Fund for Emergency Relief will continue to address immediate and long-term needs stemming from the COVID-19 crisis. The Foundation will award grants from this fund on a rolling basis.
