The Community Foundation has established Nantucket Fund For Emergency Relief. This Fund will award grants on a rolling basis to nonprofits that are addressing the most important needs during this broad-based community emergency.
The Community Foundation has committed $100,000 to launch this initiative, and late last week the Foundation received a most generous pledge from ReMain Nantucket to match new donations up to an additional $250,000.
With businesses, governments, and all other organizations all reeling from the economic impact of COVID-19, the Nantucket Community has been left with more questions than answers as to what the future might hold. In an effort to alleviate some of those concerns, the Foundation is establishing a new arm of their Nantucket Fund to provide flexible resources to our nonprofit organizations.
The Nantucket Fund is the permanent endowment for our Island and its grant making has become a vital resource for our Island nonprofits and community. Now more than ever the Foundation wants to ensure our Island’s community nonprofit leaders have the resources they need.
“As the local impact of the pandemic unfolds, our community’s desire to help has been inspiring. The Foundation is committed to collaborating and coordinating with the Nantucket community to ensure we are able to work together to serve those who are vulnerable during this time of great need. Establishing the Nantucket Fund Emergency Relief is the easiest and most efficient way for the Foundation to support our vital organizations and year-round community.” Geoff Verney, CFN Board President.
