The Nantucket Island Fair is an island tradition dating back to 1856 when the first fair was held to celebrate the agricultural harvest on Nantucket. Since then a lot has changed, but members of the island community still look forward to attending the fair every autumn. The Island Fair has something for everyone, from traditional fair games, the animal tent, and Gertrude’s Harvest competition, to kids games and food trucks and other vendors sell tasty treats. Everywhere there are smiling folks enjoying a day to celebrate the end of a busy summer season. It really is a special event.
We the fair committee are so grateful for the Community Foundation’s ongoing support. We plan to be back in Tom Never’s in 2024 bigger and better than ever after a mini event September 24, 2023 at Children’s Beach. With the help of the community, we know that this can be a reality. The Island Fair is the last event on Nantucket put on by the community for the community. We are all volunteers and depend upon a ton of folks to pitch in to help make the fair happen. With that, we Thank You for your donation and we can’t wait to see you at the Fair!
