The Community Foundation for Nantucket is proud to announce that Sunny Daily, the Foundation’s current Program Director, has been named its new Executive Director effective as of August 1st. She will succeed Margaretta Andrews who had announced her plan to retire earlier this year.
“Sunny has been a critical part of the Community Foundation organization and she has extensive direct experience with the nonprofits on the Island through her role in the Foundation’s grantmaking and convening,” said Melissa Philbrick, Board President. “She is a compassionate and trusted resource in the community who is ready to lead the Community Foundation in its very exciting next chapter.”
“I am honored and excited to have been chosen as the next Executive Director of the Community Foundation,” said Sunny Daily, who has been an island resident for almost 20 years. “I am thrilled to be able to build on the prior accomplishments of the Community Foundation by continuing to advocate for the needs of critical island organizations and the clients they serve, and by connecting with our donors who so clearly care about this island community.”
Margaretta Andrews, who has been the Community Foundation’s Executive Director for the past 15 years, commented, “I am so pleased that Sunny will succeed me as the Foundation’s Executive Director. I have every confidence that she will help move the organization forward in a way that is seamless, and that she will work hard to increase the impact the Community Foundation has on our community.”
The Community Foundation’s mission is “to strengthen Nantucket now and for future generations through thoughtful philanthropy and community leadership” and now has approximately $26 Million in charitable assets under management in more than 100 funds. One of those is the Nantucket Fund, an endowed fund with grant-making directed by the Foundation’s Board, which serves as a permanent, flexible resource to nimbly respond to the changing needs of the community.
