The Community Foundation for Nantucket has started its annual Community Grants process through the Nantucket Fund™. We received our last submission on October 22nd and now begin on the road to choosing the recipients. Each year, every applicant receives a visit from a member of our Grants Committee to discuss their application and any other information about their organization that the Foundation should know.
The money available for Community Grants through the Nantucket Fund™ come from restricted and unrestricted endowments, pledges and contributions from charitably-minded donors and organizations, and over 400 individuals. The second annual Nantucket Fund™ raffle was even more successful this year.
“I was so pleased that Nantucketers supported our raffle again this year, and we were able to add over $13,000 to the amount available for Community Grants.” said Marsha Reis Kotalac, Chair of the CFN Grants Committee. “Our Board’s focus in 2014 was to double the Nantucket Fund™ to do twice the good, and we succeeded!”
Thank you to all of those who bought tickets and CONGRATULATIONS to the winners!
If you are new to The Community Foundation for Nantucket: Welcome!
All Island 501c3 charities can apply for a grant. The Foundation encourages grant requests for projects and programs on Nantucket that are likely to have substantial impact on the quality of life in the Nantucket community.
The Foundation’s Grants Committee provides its expertise and objectivity in determining the most beneficial use for funds available for grant making based on an annual application process. This year the Committee was assisted by a community needs roundtable that highlighted Nantucket’s most significant needs. Housing, mental health and substance abuse, year round public transportation and after school care are just a few of the needs that the committee focused on.
On December 5, 2014 join us as we celebrate the selected charities at The Annual Grant Recipient’s Breakfast hosted this year at the Nantucket Hotel.
