CFN News: Nantucket Fund Grant Cycle Changing

The Nantucket Fund Grant is moving! As you know The Nantucket Fund is the Foundation’s unrestricted source to provide community grants to financially support and focus attention on the Island’s most critical needs and initiatives.

For the past several years these awards have been granted in July. The timing of the awards was changed during the CHIP funding grant cycle. As you may recall CHIP was the Community Health Initiative Program – our partnership with Nantucket Cottage Hospital to disperse a $4.25M community health grant program directly to our community. Now that the CHIP cycle is complete, we have decided to move the Nantucket Fund Grant awards back to their original timeframe and award them in December.

That means that for 2022 awards were granted in July. Reporting for 2022 awards will follow as usual with 6-month grant reports due in Jan 2023 and 12-month grant reports due in July 2023.

For 2023 there will be a celebration in July to highlight the work that has been done with the 2022 funding, but new awards will not be distributed at this time. Please save your stories, photos, and testimonials of how this current round of funding impacts the Nantucket residents you serve so that we can share them at our July 2023 reception. This reception will include an audience with donors as it has in the past. We anticipate grant applications will be available June 1, 2023, applications due Sept. 15, 2023, interviews to follow shortly thereafter, and awards being granted at a breakfast ceremony in early December 2023. There will be additional email reminders sent out closer to these dates.

We are letting you know now because we understand that budgets may be impacted by this change. We do hope that this information will be helpful in your planning and may align better with timelines for your budget approvals. If this change in schedule poses significant challenges to your programming, please reach out to sdaily@cfnan.org.

The Foundation encourages grant requests for projects and programs on Nantucket that are likely to have a substantial impact on the quality of life of people in the community, especially in the following areas:

Mental Health
Substance Use
Housing
Affordable Childcare
Year-round transportation
Senior Well-Being
Diversity Initiatives
