Congratulations to the Nantucket Wheelers on the purchase and replacement of two of their four innovative electric assist wheelchair bikes! After nearly 10 years of service, it is time to replace these well used and much loved means of transportation. The Wheelers mission is to reconnect residents of Our Island Home and other disabled members and visitors of the community with Nantuckets great outdoors, their families, and the community at large.
Our goal is to continue to offer free rides to four residents, escorted by four volunteer Pilots and two Crossing Guards, as often as weather and volunteers permit. Two Bikes down, two to go!
Thank you for considering a donation to the Nantucket Wheeler program. Just as important as the donations are our volunteers. Three 3 hour training sessions and a commitment to one day per week ride with the Wheeler passengers are required if you would like to join us in this fun and meaningful activity.
