The Community Foundation for Nantucket serves many donors with a variety of charitable interests. Gifts are tax-deductible and may be made during the donor’s lifetime or by bequest in a will.
Gifts can take the following forms:
Donors can make a contribution to support the Foundation’s mission to strengthen Nantucket now and for future generations through informed philanthropy and community leadership. Friends of the Foundation and members of the 2005 Society have made a multi-year commitment to support the Foundation’s operations.
A donor can make one-time or periodic contributions to CFN Endowment Fund or the Peggy Gifford Fund, the Foundation’s unrestricted endowments, or to a fund named after the donor or his/her family, or in memory of a loved one.
Advised funds allow donor to make tax-deductible gifts to the Foundation, and then to make suggestions for giving through the fund, either to several charities (Donor Advised Fund), specific charities (Designated Fund), or a field of charitable interest (Field of Interest Fund).
A donor designates that the Foundation is to receive a specific amount, a percent of the estate or a piece of property upon the donor’s death.
Life Income Gifts
A donor makes a gift to the Foundation, in return for which he or she receives income for life.
In exchange for a gift of cash or securities, a donor receives a guaranteed annual payment for life. When the annuity terminates, a permanent endowment fund is established in the donor’s name. This fund may be used to support a local charitable organization.
