On July 11th, at the Nantucket Hotel, we held our annual Nantucket Fund™ Grant Recipient Breakfast. The event was sponsored by BNY Mellon Wealth Management. This year, we had the pleasure of awarding $160,475 to 22 nonprofit recipients.
The Nantucket Maria Mitchell Association and the Nantucket Community School hosted the Third Annual Nantucket Science Festival on March 18, 2017 at the Cyrus Pierce Middle School. The event was made possible in part by a grant from our Nantucket Fund™. This fund is the Foundation’s unrestricted source to provide community grants to financially support and focus attention on the island’s most critical needs and initiatives. One Book One Island is a collaborative project of community partners and sponsors on Nantucket which seeks to promote reading, literacy and community by encouraging the entire population of Nantucket to read, discuss, and reflect on the same book. In addition, the project is designed to foster the importance of life-long learning for children and adults and to provide multiple opportunities for cultural enrichment in the community.
